Blog Hopping for the 4th of July

The Winner by random number generator is Fiona! I’ve emailed you. Email me back. Congratulations!

Welcome to my part of the 4th of July Blog Hop. I’m giving away a copy of Behaving Badly, my new release from The Wild Rose Press, and a $15 gift card. (click the graphic to go back to the blog hop home page)

I tend to ask a question of those wanting a chance to win what I’m giving away. I’ll be with family for Independence Day, and I have no idea what we’ll be doing. I have memories of going to our town’s square (Yep, it had one!) to listen to music and enjoy food before settling down on top of my parent’s car to watch the fireworks over the water. So, that leads me to my question:

What do you like doing most on Independence Day?

(I’ll close the comments at midnight on the 4th of July if I am awake. Central time, because it is where I live. Comment away.)

  1. I feel so,soooooooooo grateful on the 4th of the way…yayyyyyyyyyy happbeeee blog 4th of July!!! I adore spending time with my children & love ones, fishing ,cooking & eating sometimes taking N a great Movie..:D..! May God bless us everyone!!

  2. I am spending the day with my family eating and swimming and when it gets dark I’m going to take my grandkids to watch the fireworks.

  3. I’m going to be with the family too, and we’ll be going to a cookout and watching fireworks 🙂

  4. Sometimes holidays can be so busy with cooking and driving to “get someplace” that we forget to enjoy the holiday. I think it can be nice to just hang out with family and really enjoy a simple holiday. The Fourth of July celebrates independence–sometimes it’s fun to be free of hassle!

  5. I love getting together with family and friends on Independence Day but I also like to squeeze in a little alone time (a little indepence for myself)!

  6. I love holding and going to BBQ’s during 4th of July! It’s a great excuse for me to eat a bunch of red meat and Corn on the cob while surrounding myself with great people.

  7. I get together with my family too. We go to the local parade, where I do not casually steal the candy thrown for the children. Then friends go over to my parent’s house for barbeque. At night, we watch the local fireworks since unprofessional ones, even sparklers, are illegal in my state.
    Happy Independence Day!

  8. Just getting to spend time with my family makes it great.

  9. Nora’s absolutely right, I think! Beach traffic is always horrible this time of year where I live, so it’s most likely I’ll be hanging out with family too.

  10. I love the fireworks although I don’t go out with the crowds to watch anymore. I’d prefer to watch them on TV. Oh, and I love to eat a good German Bratwurst cooked on the grill and topped with homemade BBQ sauce and onions! Love the crispy, crunchy skin! Happy 4th to you!

  13. I really enjoy spending time with the kids on the fourth! We usually have a cookout and then go into the city for the fireworks.

  16. I’ll be working an early day shift at my crappy retail job, dealing with procrastinators who didn’t bother to plan ahead and who need a bathing suit NOW, when all we have left are size 2 and a couple of size 18s! Our town just canceled the parade and fireworks due to too many still being without power from a storm that blew through here on Sunday and knocked out so many power lines. Maybe we’ll watch fireworks on TV while I put my feet up? fiona(dot)mcgier(at)gmail(dot)com

  17. I am happy we live in a country with so many freedoms,

  18. Hooray for days off in the middle of the week to celebrate with my family!! Thanks to all the men and women who have served, are serving and will serve!

  19. My hubs and the boys head downtown to our little parade, then we spend the day eating good food and snacking before the fireworks! Happy 4th to you and yours!

  20. My favorite thing to do was to have a BBQ with the family and then later watch the big fireworks. This year it is just to hot as it’s over 100 with the heat index. Humid as h#ll too. So I am not leaving my air conditioned house. LOL. I do see they do have some fireworks on TV tonight. Not the same but; hey won’t have the bugs or heat. LOL. Thanks for being part of the blog hop. Happy 4th of July.

  21. Small town festival here, complete with classic cars, parade, bbq and of course fireworks. All this is depending on weather or not it rains…which is looking good so far.

  22. the 4th of July usually means we would go to the parade down on main street and then play with friends and family at a bbq until its time to go to the park for fireworks. Sadly this year I have broken my foot and torn a ligament in the other so I am bed bound. The kids have settled for ice cream sundaes and sparklers as a trade to not going to the fireworks (they are such good kids)

  23. I spent the day with family – playing with my nephews, shopping with my sister. As long as we’re having a good time together, I don’t really care what we do – we don’t usually go downtown to the fireworks (big urban area, gets really crowded).

  24. I am house & dog sitting, just hanging out, watching tv/movies, reading. Nothing exciting.

  25. I like coccooning on July 4th–snuggled safe and cool in my home with my hubby and kitties. I want to avoid the heat, the humidity, the noise, the crowds, the tourists, the mosquitoes, and just the crazies out there on such days as today.
    Happy July 4th!
